About the courts

History and jurisdiction

The Hulme Courts have served Manchester since 1875. The current building, opened in 1992, houses both a Crown Court and a Magistrates' Court.

Resident judges HHJ Margaret Chan and three circuit judges. Magistrates' Bench: 120 lay magistrates, two district judges.
